La Maison du Guil is a truly atypical bed and breakfast in the French Hautes Alpes. A priory dating back to the 16th century, the house has been entirely renovated and is situated in the heart of the hamlet of la Font d’Eygliers, looking down on the valley of the Guil and the Durance rivers, a small distance north of the lake of Serre-Ponçon. Adjacent to the fortified village of Mont Dauphin, our house offers you a mixture of old materials with contemporary elements, comfort and charm. 4 spacious B&B rooms and 2 comfortable self catering appartments.
In the preserved nature of the Guillestrois, at the crossing of the natural parks of the Ecrins and the Queyras, you can discover authentic villages, valleys, mountain rivers and lakes, … and leave again with a refill of energy.
Winter knocks on the door with the arrival of the first snow flakes, end of autumn. In the beginning of winter, only the summits surrounding our hamlet are snow capped, with nice autumn colors below and in the valley. Later on in winter, we regularly have snow around the house and around the hamlet, bringing an additional touch of sheer beauty to our area. The sounds of nature change, become more filtered, the light is extraordinary, ideal conditions for hiking, snow shoe hiking, cross country skiing in the Parc du Queyras or des Ecrins, down hill skiing in Vars or Risoul, dog sledding, or just to relax in our garden. Fancy a weekend break in the Alps, or a longer stay to fully enjoy winter in the Southern Alps? You'll find more inspiration on this page ' discover winter' or on our blog.
At the end of an exciting day in the mountains, return to the calm and peacefullness of our hamlet, enjoy an aperitif on the terrace followed by dinner in table d'hôtes style, in our vaulted ceiling dining room. An evening when we don't serve dinner, we'll be glad to advize you some nice restaurants in the area.
